Fletcher Opera Theateris the 600-seat theater, on the east side of Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, designed for dance, opera, and theatrical productions. The farthest seat in the balcony is only 68 feet from the stage. Performances include such groups as National Opera Company, Carolina Ballet and A. J. Fletcher Opera Institute.
