Historic Yates Mill County Park 919-856-6675
Around five miles south of Raleigh along Lake Wheeler Road, Historic Yates Mill County Park features the only remaining gristmill in Wake County. The old mill, now fully restored and operable, has stood on its foundation since the 1750s, despite disasters including floods, hurricanes, war and neglect.
Weekday Organized Group Mill Tours
Wednesdays, March through November at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
Reservations and participant fee deposit are required.
One Hour Weekend Mill Heritage Tours
All weekends except the third weekend from March through November –
Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Participant fee is required.
Half-Hour Corn Grinding Tours
Every third weekend from March through November.
Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
Sundays, 1 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.
Participant fee is required.
Two-Hour Mill Technology Tour
Offered three Saturdays a year, in March, June and September
From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Reservations and participant fee are required.
